Navasota is a city in Grimes County, Texas. According to the 2018 census, Navasota had a population of 7,715. Navasota is situated on the business route of Texas Highway 6, in southeastern Grimes County and Navasota River at the crossing of State Highway 105. The site was initially called Hollandale for Francis Holland, who purchased land in 1822. In 2005, the Texas Legislature established Navasota as the “Blues Capital of Texas” in recognition of the late Mance Lipscomb, a blues musician and a Navasota native.
